SPMUSTATE PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT UNIT
To strengthen the AYUSH infrastructure both at the Central and State levels,GoI has sanctioned establishment of Programme Management Units (PMU’s) at both the levels. The PMU consisting of management &IT professionalsare to be set up on NRHM pattern. This will be subject to the condition that a commitment is given by the State Governments for taking over the entire expenditure on the PMU by the end of the 11th Plan.
GoIguidelines provide for recruitment of the professionals to strengthen the AYUSH sector on similar lines as under NRHM and to provide technical assistance for undertaking mainstreaming of AYUSH. Under this Scheme PMU staff will be recruited from open market on contractual basis to provide technical support to the Mainstreaming of AYUSH in the State through its pool of skilled professionals like MBA, CA, Accounts and IT Specialists. This technical pool would be accessed by Mission Director/ AYUSH Director and officials involved in implementation of Mainstreaming of AYUSH & support related to logistics, financial management, MIS, tracking of funds for AYUSH etc.

assist in mapping of AYUSH facilities for grant in aid and developing AYUSH plans based on realistic estimation.
assist in designing road map for achieving Mainstreaming of AYUSH and coordinate between State Health Society and AYUSH Directorate.
provide specific programme support related to logistics, financial management, tracking of funds for AYUSH up to the lower level.
collect the data from field level and create & maintain State resource database for the AYUSH sector including manpower, buildings, equipment’s and other support infrastructure.
assist in developing the database of trained AYUSH manpower.
liaise and brief officers on successes, problems and issues on implementation of Mainstreaming of AYUSH.
submit technical reports (including when necessary brief action points) on status of Mainstreaming.
assist in preparing different training modules and training material curriculum and guidelines etc in consultation with the State and Central govt officials.
help Director/ Nodal Officer for AYUSH to organize TOTs, Expert Committee meetings and other meetings and workshops as required from time to time under NRHM.
assist in monitoring of service delivery of AYUSH at health care facility.
